To be a dynamic, innovative, multi-purpose, and non-denominational facility incorporating spaces and services to help address the current and growing needs of the diverse Tamil community.
About the Role
We are seeking committed board members to serve on our organization's governing body. As an operational board, we require members who can dedicate 10-15 hours per week to help achieve our collective goals. Board members will advise on strategic plans, participate in committees, and monitor financial affairs.
Available Positions
1. General
- Has served on a TCC committee or supported TCC initiatives
- Experience managing volunteers or people
- Confident in bringing in Founding Families
- Strong project management skills
2. Accounting / Finance
- Holds a CPA designation
- Works as an accountant
- Non-profit accounting experience
- Familiarity with construction finance and cash flow management
3. Communications
- Experience working with the government or public sector
- Media relations and crisis communication experience
- Strong writing skills for diverse audiences
4. Marketing
- Experience in social media marketing (Instagram, YouTube preferred)
- Strong project management experience
- Experience managing multiple campaigns
5. Project
- Real estate development experience
- Strong project management skills
- Experience submitting development applications to the city
- Has managed external consultants (e.g. architects, engineers)
6. Fundraising
- Experience leading fundraising campaigns
- Proven track record securing major gifts or donor relationships
- Comfortable soliciting contributions from individuals and organizations
- Strategic thinking around donor engagement and stewardship
Key Responsibilities
- Attend weekly 2-3 hour board meetings (Saturdays)
- Co-chair board sub-committees
- Represent TCC at events and in the community
- Contribute to strategic planning and policy development
- Monitor financial affairs and approve budgets
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Previous board experience preferred
- Strong leadership and diplomatic skills
- Passion for TCC's mission and community
- Tamil fluency would be an asset
- Experience with government relations
- Relevant professional expertise
